The ME & WE Lab
The strength to stand on your own; the courage to need others.
A 10-week on-line group
with Mallika Bush, LMFT
Starting: Sept. 16th
You are no longer going to silence yourself, or make yourself small so others feel comfortable.
It’s time to put more energy into your ME!
Have you recently left your marriage — or are planning to — and want to rebuild your life with clarity, confidence and a future that still values connection?
You want the strength to stand on your own; and the courage to still need others.
Stay connected to the woman who longs to be held, while becoming the woman who can hold herself.
Leave the unhealthy patterns — but don’t leave your wisdom behind.
Rather than losing yourself in the aftermath of leaving your marriage or pretending you don’t still need connection . . .
Imagine being able to say:
This is what I see.
This is what I feel.
This is what I want.
This is what I don't know.
This is what matters to me.
This is who I am.
Can you become more willing to be seen?
More willing to hear your own voice.
More willing to claim what you know.
More willing to acknowledge what you don't know.
More willing to own the parts of yourself you once hid.
And more able to decide what you actually want to do with all of it.
This is what “more ME” can mean.
Not becoming selfish.
Not becoming hard.
Not becoming someone who doesn't care.
Becoming someone who no longer has to disappear in order to belong.
Join Mallika, alongside other women becoming more “ME” after the end of a relationship.
Together, we will explore what it takes to create meaningful change in the next chapter of your relationships.
What would change if you could . . .
Stand firmly on your own — without having to convince yourself you don't need anyone?
Trust your own perceptions and voice — without needing others to agree with you?
Honor your longing for connection — without giving away your authority?
Need others — without needing them to make you whole?
Learn to recognize the legitimate needs of your Dependent Self without allowing those needs to run your life.
Strengthen your Independent Self so you can make choices, take action, and hold onto yourself.
Practice the paradox of needing others while becoming increasingly able to be there for yourself.
Trust your perceptions and your voice without requiring others to agree with you.
Learn to distinguish between what you know, what you imagine, and what you don't yet know.
See emotions and conflict as sources of wisdom, not problems to fix.
Begin to develop a ME who can soften into quiet strength, stay rooted in yourself, AND remind open to a WE.
By Thanksgiving you could:
This Program is for You If:
You have left your marriage—or are seriously considering leaving—and know the emotional work doesn't end when the marriage does. You want to become more independent without becoming disconnected.
You recognize that part of you still longs to be understood, held, supported, loved, and connected.
You want to develop the capacity to hold yourself when someone else isn't available.
You’re committed to growth and willing to experiment with your own responses rather than waiting for other people to change.
You’re ready to recognize the patterns you may carry from your marriage into the relationships that come next.
You value guidance rooted in respect, support, self-responsibility, and curiosity.
You’re ready to cut through the noise and practice what builds self-trust, authentic truth, emotional intelligence, and relational choice.

Week 1
Orientation — Beginning Your Next Chapter
Theme: Who am I now?
Leaving a marriage can change the relationships around you—and the relationship you have with yourself.
Together we will explore:
Why leaving a marriage is not the end of the relational journey
The difference between ME and WE
The paradox of becoming more independent without becoming disconnected
Creating safety, confidentiality, and agreements for the group
The power of learning alongside other women doing their own work
Week 2
Building Block 1: “Seeing Systems”
Theme:You are still part of a larger system.
Even when a marriage ends, the WE doesn't necessarily disappear. Children, family, friends, work, and community may continue to connect you to the people and patterns you are learning to see differently.
Together we will explore:
How relationships, families, workplaces, and communities shape our experience
How the marriage system shaped who you became
The iceberg: visible behavior versus the emotions and needs underneath
Recognizing patterns you may want to leave behind—and patterns you may want to understand more deeply
Week 3
Building Block 2: “Accepting Perfection As We Are”
Theme: Face reality, without giving up on what you want.
You can accept that your marriage ended—or needs to end—without deciding that everything about it was a mistake.
Together we will explore:
The difference between reacting and responding
Using Goal, Action, Situation (GAS) to make choices in the life you are creating
How fighting reality can increase suffering
How acceptance can create more room for choice
Week 4
Building Block 3: “Accessing Emotions”
Theme: Your emotions have something to tell you.
Relief and grief can coexist. Anger can sit beside longing. Freedom can arrive alongside loneliness.
Together we will explore:
Primary emotions and the defenses that protect us from them
Identifying key moments that activate old patterns
Listening to emotions for the information they carry about values, fears, and needs
Learning to experience emotions without allowing them to take over the Self
Week 5
Building Block 4: “Embracing Trauma”
Theme: Understanding the woman you had to become.
The ways you adapted to your marriage and to earlier relationships may have served important purposes. Understanding those adaptations can open new choices.
Together we will explore:
How earlier experiences shape present relationships
The difference between needing another person and being unable to be with yourself
The strengths and resources developed through adversity
How to honor the parts of yourself that still want to be held, protected, understood, and loved
Week 6
Building Block 5: “Channeling Energy”
Theme: Stop trying to spend your life trying to change what you cannot control.
After leaving, enormous energy can still remain tied to the former marriage: proving, explaining, replaying, fixing, comparing, or wondering what the other person should have done differently.
Together we will explore:
How the person who wants something less often has more power
Where your energy goes when you are trying to change another person
How to redirect energy toward what you can actually influence
Choosing when to pursue connection and when to redirect your energy toward your own development
Week 7
Building Block 6: “Navigating the Terrain of Shame”
Theme: Welcome the parts of yourself you learned to hide.
Leaving can bring questions that cut deeply: Was it my fault? Did I fail? Did I stay too long? What will people think? Who am I now?
Together we will explore:
How family and culture shape our ideas about who we are supposed to be
The difference between constructive shame and destructive shaming
The “good woman / bad woman” stories we may carry
Developing the capacity to move toward difficult truths without collapsing into self-attack
Week 8
Building Block 7: Receiving a Protest
Theme: Stay connected to yourself when someone else reacts.
Leaving a marriage rarely means leaving all difficult interactions behind. There may still be an ex-spouse, children, family members, friends, or colleagues who react to your choices.
Together we will explore:
Why protests arise in relationships
What happens inside us when someone challenges, criticizes, or misunderstands us
Defensiveness, blame, and withdrawal
Owning what is yours while remaining curious about what isn't
Week 9
Building Block 8: Organizing Self
Theme: Learn to hold yourself.
This is where the central paradox becomes practical:
How do you become more independent without abandoning your need for connection?
Together we will explore:
Claiming, Compassion, and Curiosity (CCC)
Learning to reach for support when it is available
Learning to be with yourself when another person is unavailable
The power and pleasure of giving and receiving
Holding onto yourself while staying connected
Week 10
Building Block 9:
Claiming Truth and Self-Authority
Theme: Trust yourself — and choose how you want to relate to the world.
The goal isn't to become someone who never needs anyone.
It is to become someone who can need others without giving away her authority.
Together we will explore:
Claiming what you know while remaining open to other perspectives
Distinguishing accurate perception from distortion
Mutual and Unequal relationships
Recognizing when a relationship can be developed together—and when your own development needs to take the lead
What kind of ME and WE you want to create in this next chapter
By the end of the 10 weeks, you won't necessarily have a different life. You'll have more capacity to be in the life you have, and to build the life you want!

This Lab Is for women who are ready for what comes next.
This group is for women who have left a marriage—or are preparing to leave—and want to discover who they can become on the other side.
Women who value emotional depth and connection, who long for more satisfaction in love and in life, and who are no longer willing to sacrifice themselves in order to stay connected.
But this isn't about becoming someone who needs no one.
It's about learning how to stand on your own without abandoning the part of you that still needs connection.
You don't have to quit, force, control, or convince someone else to give you what you need.
And you don't have to harden yourself, shut down your longing, or pretend you don't care.
You will be in good company with other women who are ready to:
Take greater responsibility for their own experience and choices
Understand the patterns they are leaving behind—and the ones they may carry forward
Strengthen their voice and self-authority
Learn when to reach toward connection and when to hold onto themselves
Discover what creates more confidence, connection, and true satisfaction in love and in life
This is relationship work that begins with you—not with changing someone else.
Together, we’ll explore what happens when you stop asking, “How do I get someone else to meet me?” and begin asking, “How do I meet myself—and what becomes possible from there?”
-
Groups can be scary.
There is no requirement for you to show up in any way other than how you are ready.
Wherever you go, you bring yourself. So you may learn a lot about yourself as you simply witness what happens for you in the group setting.
Maybe you tend to talk a lot.
Maybe you disappear into the background.
Maybe you take care of everyone else.
Maybe you worry about being judged.
Maybe you want someone to tell you what to do.
Maybe you resist receiving help.
Maybe you compare yourself to everyone in the room. The group itself becomes part of the learning. You can observe your own reactions, practice your voice, receive different perspectives, and experiment with staying connected to yourself while being in a WE.
-
The emphasis is on learning and practicing the Me & We Method, not on being required to disclose your private history.
Group participation can become an opportunity to explore your experience while maintaining appropriate boundaries.
-
You are welcome here. You don't have to arrive at the Lab with the answer.
“Should I stay or should I leave?” is an incredibly human question—especially when you are deeply attached to someone and your marriage is no longer giving you the experience you want. The dilemma can become especially painful when you repeatedly go back and forth, collecting evidence for why the relationship is or isn't “good enough.”
The ME & WE Method doesn't tell you to stay. It doesn't tell you to leave.
Instead, you can use this framework to step out of the suffering of the endless question long enough to see more clearly:
What am I feeling right now?
What really matters to me?
What are my needs?
What do I actually know—and what am I imagining?
What choices are available to me?
What happens when I stop trying to make the decision all at once?
Sometimes the wisest choice is to leave. Sometimes the wisest choice, for now, is to stay and experiment with doing something differently. And sometimes you're not ready to decide yet.
This group will focus on the process for those who have chosen to leave a marriage. You may discover you have clarity on your own choice when hearing from others.
-
This is an important part of the work. You’ll explore when continued effort toward a Mutual WE makes sense—and when it may be wiser to redirect your energy toward developing your own ME.
This group is not about you holding more, doing more and losing hold of yourself in the process.
Just the opposite.
It’s about learning to feel grounded in your ME, but not to the extent that you lose connection with others.
How do we find the strength to me ME, but the courage to stay open to a WE.
-
The goals of this group focus on building a ME that has the capacity to engage in a WE that you want.
You may be focusing on non-romantic relationships for a while after leaving a relationship:
your children
your family
co-workers or friends
You do not have to be trying to build a new romantic relationship for this program to be a fit for you.
-
Both.
There is a pre-recorded portion and a live portion.
Each week you will get an email with recommended listening from the ME & WE Podcast.
Every Wednesday we will meet via Zoom for a LIVE group call. The group is designed to be LIVE with participation (dialogue, coaching, Q&A and personal sharing)
The calls will be recorded and uploaded into a course portal.
Meet Mallika
I am a woman, wife, daughter, artist, yogi, and mother of two daughters, ages 15 and 11. I value truth, dharma, co-creation, humor, joy, and tending to the systems that matter to me.
I have worked for 15+ years with clients, women and couples, and yet my greatest learning has been through my own life and marriage.
As a therapist and coach, I hold space for deep feeling and for finding reality, clarity and your voice!
I believe we are designed in perfection, and life is a mirror for our spiritual evolution.
I have seen how “holding space” is only one part of the process that leads to transformation.
We need to take action.
Action helps us create functionally effective tools in real time.
We learn, experiment, and learn more.
Without taking action, we stay stuck in our minds. And our minds are a power tool, but we need to learn how to use them well!
The work I do synthesizes foundational human psychology and spirituality with practical, concrete tools and practices. I help clients experience change and satisfaction in the moment, rather than wait to arrive at a fantastical future “healed self”.
I help you create a foundation of growth in your life, so that all your relationships are the fertile ground within which you can root, rise and radiate.
We do not have to do this work alone. I am working towards a world where our minds clearly see reality, we utilize our emotional gifts, and our relationships are deep and functional. I envision a world where change happens through mutual commitment.
I am honored to witness and support you as you too take steps on your path towards a world YOU want to live in!
What people are saying:
“I find myself gaining the courage to take small risks in my relationships. Sometimes, these risks have deepened my relationships; other times, they have not. Every time, though, I showed up as my authentic self, and that has been freeing and deeply satisfying.”
— K.G.“I’ve uncovered old patterns keeping me stuck—like rushing to connect, but then closing off. I feel more accepting of myself now, not holding myself or others to unreasonable expectations. This awareness helps me receive deeper, moment-to-moment satisfaction. I feel more spaciousness to be and feel who I truly am."
— M.B.“I experienced a pivotal shift in my marriage when I learned to identify and communicate my feelings without needing my partner to fix them, using phrases like "I just need to tell you I'm feeling angry." He doesn’t get as defensive and I don’t just hold it all alone.”
